Nestled in the huge granite rocks...
This "stone-roofed house" was part of a coastal defence system in the 17th century set up by Vauban under Louix XIV's orders in the 17th century.
This system was comprised of an uninterrupted chain of look-outs (now known as "Customs Houses") which communicated in order to protect the coast from enemy attacks, particularly from English attacks.
